Originally from Barrie, Ontario, Canada, Kylie holds an honours degree in Kinesiology from McMaster University.  The bulk of her adult training and research in the last 5 years has been with Toronto companies Alias Dance Project and Gadfly Dance Company.  As a choreographer and teacher she is most interested in release-based floorwork - her practice is most heavily influenced by Toronto Artist Lauren Cook, and she has had the privilege of training extensively with Mate Meszaros (Hungary) and Keren Rosenberg (Israel).  She continues to train in hip hop, house dance, and commercial-style Jazz-Funk, after having spent many hours focusing on these forms in her younger training years.  Some of her work credits include; The New Blue Festival of Emerging Dance, Dance: Made in Canada Festival, Airplane Boys, Kiesza, CNE, Choreographer’s Ball, TIFF, Toronto Fringe, APAP festival (NYC), and The Garage.  She has had the privilege of developing her pedagogical practice independently, hosting classes through her company Kylie Thompson Dance, as well as with people of all ages in hundreds of studios across Canada, including Harbour Dance Centre in Vancouver and Decidedly Jazz Danceworks in Calgary.  She is proud to have called City Dance Corps home since 2017.
