Originally from Montreal, Jerome Jean-Gilles began his training in Latin dances in 1996 in Toronto. He discovered a deep passion for Latin music and dance that took his studies to New York, Cuba and Miami where he received training in Mambo, Afro Cuban, and Casino Rueda. Jerome studied under many legends, such as Eddie Torres and the Vasquez brothers to name a few. Shortly after his introduction to Latin dances, Jerome discovered a new passion for Tap dance, where he started his training in 2000 under the tutelage of Marion Hopkins, Shawn Byfield and Alana Hock. Jerome has been travelling to Buenos Aires annually since 2007 to further train in Argentine Tango. Jerome has trained intensively under Argentine Tango masters Julio Balmaceda & Virginia Vasconi, Pablo Veron, Damien Rosenthal & Vanessa Fautaros, Toto Faraldo, Los Totis, Dana Frigoli, Gabriel Misse, Natalia Hills & Alejandro Aquino, Raoul Bravo, Guillermina Quiroga & Mariano Logiudice, Fabian Salas, Mariana Dragone, Lorena Ermocida, and more.
Jerome is co-owner and director of City Dance Corps. Jerome has created the Salsa syllabus at City Dance Corps and is known for his smooth lead and rhythmic, intricate footwork. He has been featured as an instructor at Salsa Congresses and events around the world, including Peru, Israel, Japan, Britain, China, New Jersey and across Canada to name a few.
