It takes two to Tango
A powerful dance characterized by its intensity, complexity, and most of all passion. The Argentine Tango is a 'non-verbal' dance embodying a high degree of consciousness. This style is danced in an embrace that can vary from vary from open to closed, in which the leader and follower connect at arms length or to connect chest-to-chest.
The Argentine Tango program is under the direction of Estelle Nicol, who has trained extensively in Buenos Aires by some of the worlds most renowned dancers and instructors. Estelle teaches a combination of traditional and nuevo tango techniques with an emphasis on body awareness, musicality, and improvisation. She has been recognized for creating a TANGO MOVEMENT in Toronto exposing this beautiful dance form to a younger generation. She has also founded and created THE CDC SALSA-TANGO TECHNIQUE where she brings the influences of the salsa and tango dance worlds together. Salsa dancers from all over the world seek this technique to add tango influences and embellishments to their dance form.
Estelle organizes Toronto's only Argentine Tango Retreat in Buenos Aires. This annual STUDENT TRAINING INTENSIVE was launched in March 2010, and is sold out every year. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to train with the worlds top instructors and experience the culture and history of tango.
